Where to go & What to see

At some point in life, everyone should visit New York City, even if only for a day – though you’re sure to want to spend a lot more time there once you’ve been hypnotised by its incredible charm. With distinct districts to explore, colossal skyscrapers giving stunning views, and engrossing historical monuments, you’ll keep coming back for more. Couples will also love getting lost in Central Park, while the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum is a tough, but necessary, place to visit. Shopaholics looking for a bargain should also head out to Woodbury Common in New Jersey, a fantastic outlet mall. Top tip – take an empty suitcase!

On the other side of the country, San Francisco is a city offering a much more relaxed experience, but no less spectacular. Walk the Golden Gate Bridge, take a tour of Alcatraz or be an early riser and head just out of town to the Twin Peaks, where you can climb to the top of the 282-metre hills for breath-taking sunrise views of the city.

Also in California, outdoors enthusiasts will adore Yosemite National Park and the jaw-dropping scenery and activities to be enjoyed within its 3,000 square kilometres. Hike, bike, climb and go water rafting among giant redwoods and enjoy the spectacular sights on display with Glacier Point, Yosemite Valley, Tunnel View, Tioga Pass, El Capitan, Tenaya Lake and Vernal Fall – and that’s barely scratching the surface.

Family holidays in the USA – for big and little kids alive – simply have to include Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The magic here is almost tangible and it’s impossible not to get swept up in it. Stay on-site for the full Disney experience and great access to the Resort’s four theme parks and two water parks. Don’t forget your Mickey ears!
