Balearic Islands Hotels

An Overview

Holidays in the Balearics offer a wealth of opportunities, with their spectacular beaches and beautiful scenery that’s peppered with a wide array of wonderful Balearic Islands hotels. Visitors can be relaxing by the pool one minute and enjoying the lovely picturesque towns, sumptuous food and lively nightlife in the next, plus these popular islands pack a punch when it comes to history and culture too.

Contrary to popular belief, the Balearics are actually made up of more than 150 islands, but only four – Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera – are inhabited, so these are naturally the most popular when it comes to Balearic Island holidays.

What to eat

While much of the culture of the islands can be shared with mainland Spain, the Balearics also have their own distinctive features, including some delicious foods. Menorca’s lobster stew is widely sought after, while mayonnaise is said to originate from Mao – a town on the island, which also produces Mao cheese.

What to do & Where to go

In terms of things to do in the Balearic Islands, there’s truly something for everyone. Party animals will undoubtedly be keen to sample the legendary Ibiza nightlife, though that is far from all the island has to offer.

A climb up to the 14th-century Cathedral of the Lady of Our Snows provides a wonderful vantage point of the Old Town below. The cobbled, winding streets make for romantic walks for couples and there are also plenty of restaurants, galleries, museums and shops to enjoy too.

On Menorca, the crescent bay of Cala Galdana is among the island’s best beaches. Blessed with pristine white sands and calm, turquoise waters, it’s perfect for family holidays in the Balearics.

Majorca meanwhile boasts a staggering 300-plus beaches, but before you kick-back, be sure to explore the other spectacular sights Majorca has to offer. Take a hike through the Tramuntana Mountains, or for the even more daring, the island has a number of wonderful spots for sea caving and coasteering.

And don’t miss out on gorgeous Formentera, perfect for a daytrip from Ibiza. Here, you’ll find great spots to snorkel or even give sailing a go.
