Indonesia

Holidays in Indonesia present a truly amazing and glorious spectacle of colour, culture, and staggering diversity not to be missed.

Spread across more than 17,000 islands, it’s little wonder the southeast Asian nation has such riches to share with its visitors.

Rest and relaxation are easy to find in Indonesia, perfect for couples or groups of friends looking to de-stress. Head to the popular island of Bali, where the central town of Ubud is chill personified. Yoga retreats can be found at every turn, alongside fantastic (and cheap!) spas.

Beach holidays in Indonesia are – it probably goes without saying – among the most stunning in the world. With so many islands, you’ll find the perfect spot, whether you’re after quiet paradise (see Belitung Island, East Sumatra), epic surf (the Banyak Islands have you covered), or luxury and chill time (Gili Islands, yes please).

There’s also a huge range of wildlife to meet throughout the country, from monkeys in Bali, to orangutans in Borneo, the Sumatran White Rhino and Sumatran Tiger, plus Komodo dragons dolphins, elephants and plenty more besides.

If you’re looking for something a bit more active or exciting for family holidays in Indonesia, you’ll be spoilt for choice too. Waterbom in Kuta, Bali, is rated as the top water park in the whole of Asia and is a great way to spend a day cooling off from the heat – and tiring out the kids!

By its diverse nature, there are also oodles of outdoors activities to enjoy too for energetic travellers. Walk through glorious emerald rice terraces, climb volcanoes, trek through the jungle and reach the dizzy height of spectacular waterfalls before taking a dip at the bottom. There are so many of these opportunities to enjoy throughout Indonesia, it’s impossible to list them all but Bali and Borneo are great places to start.

And don’t forget, Indonesia holidays are tasty experiences too. All over the country, you’ll find traditional warungs for cheap, authentic food such as popular rice dish nasi goreng. Skip the expensive tourist restaurants and go local for a true taste of Indonesia.
