Miami Holidays

An Overview

Famed for its spectacular beaches, shopping malls and glamorous party scene, Miami is often considered a millionaire’s playground. But holidays in Miami aren’t just for the rich and famous – though you still might want to keep your eyes (and camera) peeled while strolling along Ocean Drive.

Located towards the south of Florida, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and out towards the Bahamas, the metropolis of Miami is a city break and beach destination rolled into one.

Where to go & What to see

The popular two-mile stretch of satin smooth sand to be found at South Beach is a tourist hotspot, showing off rippling waves and rippling muscles. Bal Harbour Beach is where the rich and famous come to play, while for something more serene, head over to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne. This is a great spot for family holidays in Miami, while the local trails, such as Robin’s Birding Trail, provide stunning views back over the Miami skyline. Back on the mainland, Sunny Isles Beach is a much quieter, but not less breath-taking, alternative to the lively South Beach.

If Miami holidays are spent on the beach by day, then by night you’re sure to want to head to Ocean Drive, where the bars, restaurants and clubs will give you plenty of excuses to party.

To soak up a bit of culture, the popular Art Deco district is a great starting point, famed for its colourful buildings. Elsewhere, Little Havana will let you experience the Cuban side of the city, while Little Havana Cigar Factory provides fascinating insight into the trade.

Wynwood Walls, an outdoor street gallery showcasing graffiti and wall murals by global artists, is among the top things to do in Miami beyond the beaches, while the lavish Vizcaya Museum pays tribute to the Italian Renaissance.

Certified Scuba divers and keen snorkellers will want to head to Biscayne National Park, where there is the opportunity to explore underwater with the incredible Maritime Heritage Trail.
