Panama holidays are fast becoming a firm favourite for travellers heading to Central America, thanks to the diverse array of adventures to be enjoyed in the country.

Panama has the benefit of a Caribbean Sea coast and a Pacific Ocean coast, as the country connects Central and South America, so not only can it offer jungle to explore and great cities in which to soak up the culture, but it also has beautiful tropical beaches too and, of course, the famous Panama Canal.

For beach holidays in Panama, there’s no better spot than Bocas del Toro, a tropical archipelago near the border with Costa Rica. Here you’ll find stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, beautiful botanical gardens and loads of opportunities for water sports and wildlife spotting. On Isla Bastimentos, you’ll discover nothing but peace and serenity, and it’s also home to some of the best stretches of sand on Red Frog beach and Wizard beach.

Holidays in Panama also present a great opportunity for adventure. One day you could be hiking one of La India Dormida’s numerous trails or wandering through the breath-taking Soberania National Park, while the next you could be getting your adrenaline fix by ziplining through the Cloud Forest’s Canopy and taking in the spectacular views – if you can keep your eyes open!

But if you’re looking for a bit more of an urban buzz then the capital, Panama City, won’t disappoint. It boasts a fascinating contrast between the modern and traditional, with huge state-of-the-art skyscrapers in one neighbourhood, offset by the historical Casco Viejo – a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Take a trip to Paseo las Bóvedas in Casco Viejo for a great view of the city, including the Panama Canal and the Bridge of the Americas and be sure to set time aside to take a tour down the canal itself.

You can even find yourself surrounded by wilderness and more hiking opportunities in Metropolitan Natural Park, where you may also spot exotic wildlife such as Motmots and Titi Monkeys.
