Zimbabwe

Experience a wildlife adventure of a lifetime through extraordinary holidays in Zimbabwe, which will leave you speechless. The only downside is that all other holidays are guaranteed to pale into insignificance!

Safaris are the main reason people flock to Zimbabwe and rightly so, but Zimbabwe holidays have a lot more to offer as well. The only tricky bit is fitting it all in!

There are many national parks and reserves in the country giving visitors a great chance of seeing the Big Five, alongside plenty of other beasts great and small. Matobo National Park, located in the south-west, is best known for being home to rhinos, plus striking rock formations and rock art caves. Hwange National Park is perfect for game drives, where you’ll hopefully get to go nose-to-nose with elephants, giraffes, hippos, zebras, impalas, kangaroos and baboons. For a walking safari in the company of elephants, hippos, crocodiles and even lions (it’s strongly advised a ranger accompanies visitors!), Mana Pools National Reserve is the place to go. Here, you can also enjoy cruises on the Zambezi River.

Once you’re bored of all the animals – ok, this won’t happen, but if you’re looking for yet another awe-inspiring sight to add to your camera roll, Victoria Falls will provide the money shot. For one, it’s one of the seven natural wonders of the world. For another, well, what more do you need? The Falls, located on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia and close to Zambezi National Park, are a simply spectacular sight that cannot be missed.

Many will simply go to take in the breathtaking view, but others will grasp the opportunity to literally have their breath taken away by adrenaline-pumping activities such as bungee jumping, white water rafting or even bathing in the Devils Pools at the lip of the Falls.

South of Mutirikwi National Park, a lesser-known attraction can be discovered at Great Zimbabwe – a ruined city and UNESCO World Heritage site featuring a collection of stone buildings, built between the 11th and 15th centuries.
