Northern Ireland’s capital is steeped in culture and history, with a plethora of momentous sights to explore. Beyond the city boundaries, there’s no shortage of beautiful natural landscapes to explore too, making holidays in Belfast perfect for the whole family.

City breaks in Belfast have to start with a visit to the Titanic Quarter. Among the numerous historical events the capital is renowned for, the ill-fated Titanic was designed, built and launched from the city’s docks. Opened in 2012 as a monument to the area’s maritime heritage, Titanic Belfast is the world’s largest Titanic visitor experience, including interactive displays and an underwater theatre.

Nearby, the Titanic Dock and Pump House marks the site where the ship was built and launched.

Among, the other top things to do in Belfast is Crumlin Road Gaol. The only remaining prison in Northern Ireland from the Victorian era, it’s a fascinating place to unearth some local history. Tours operate throughout the day while the former prison also hosts occasional concerts and ghost tours.

Slightly further afield, Belfast Castle in the picturesque Cavehill Country Park is not only an excellent place to visit but also provides spectacular views of the city.

To the west of Belfast, Divis and the Black Mountain is a delightful place to escape the hustle and bustle, with plenty of hiking trails and panoramic vistas of Belfast and the surrounding countryside.

Keen golfers will also want to make the short drive south to the spectacular Royal County Down Golf Club.
