Where to go & What to see

El Castillo De Gibralfaro is a great spot to take in the glorious view across the town and kick-start your Malaga holidays. The climb to the top of the hill is worth the effort, not only for the outlook but the 10th-century castle too, which also features a military museum.

When you head back down the hill, Alcazaba is awaiting your return. Malaga’s most famous landmark, the Moorish palace is one of the best-preserved examples in the whole country.

If scenic walks are your thing, don’t miss out on one of the most spectacular hikes in the whole of Spain. The four to six-hour journey along the River Chillar to the cave of Nerja is an absolute must and, while the going can be tough, you’re rewarded with the chance to take a refreshing dip at the end.

Back in the town centre, take in a spot of local culture with a visit to the Museo Picasso Malaga. As the artist’s birthplace, it simply has to be on any Malaga itinerary.

The beautiful Puerto de Malaga is the perfect spot to relax at after a day on your feet. With plenty of bars and restaurants at your disposal, grab a table, order some tapas and watch the yachts and cruise ships sail on by in this idyllic setting.

The Beaches

Of course, the benefit of heading to the Spanish coast is getting the chance to indulge in beach holidays in Malaga – and it doesn’t disappoint. Make the most of the wondrous coastline and heavenly Malaga weather by popping down to Malagueta, the closest beach to the town centre.

Alternatively, head west slightly to reach Playa de la Misericordia, which is perfect for family holidays in Malaga with its calm waters making it ideal for swimming.
