Where to go & What to see

One of the most iconic sights in Gran Canaria is Roque Nublo. Located within Nublo Rural Park, this spectacular volcanic rock was formed more than four million years ago, so it’s well worth making the trek to see it. The walk itself isn’t overly taxing, making a nice stroll in the beautiful Gran Canaria weather for all fitness levels.

For a bit more of a challenge, outdoors enthusiasts can head to Tamadaba National Park, where there are several hiking routes of varying difficulty, but each with stunning views as a reward.

Of course, Gran Canaria holidays may offer spectacular scenery, but not all of it has to be earned through physical exertion. Much of the island’s natural beauty can be enjoyed simply by relaxing in a quaint town or heading to one of its 80 beaches.

Firgas is a picture-perfect town ideal for chilling out. Its main attraction is Paseo de Canarias, a really unique street with a waterfall and mosaics, but there are plenty of spots to take a break, enjoy some tapas and a crisp glass of wine.

The Beaches

Gran Canaria beach holidays are also perfect for getting a bit of rest and relaxation – though, if you’re looking for a lively party vibe, the island has that covered too. On the south of the island, Playa de Maspalomas offers a sweeping, sandy beach set against a stunning backdrop of the Maspalomas Dunes, where you can take a walk or even a camel ride. Aqualand Maspalomas is also within easy reach, ideal for family holidays in Gran Canaria.

Playa del Amadores is another popular beach spot. The crescent-shaped bay offers beautiful, calm waters and a great ocean fun park for kids.

For a more lively spot, head to Playa del Ingles, widely regarded as Gran Canaria’s party capital.
