If you’re looking for a holidays destination where the weather will almost certainly be beautiful, where you’ll enjoy gorgeous coastal views and where there will be no shortage of glitz and glamour – all within just a couple of hours of the UK – then look no further than holidays in Nice.
As the gateway to the awe-inspiring French Riviera, Nice has been popular among the well-to-do for years, but that’s not to say it’s inaccessible to the average holidaymaker, but it does give an indication as to the vibe.
While Nice doesn’t offer the best beach holidays in the French Riviera, it makes up for its lack of powder-soft sand with fantastic cultural sights, sumptuous food and crisp wine.
A stroll around the charming Old Town is the perfect way to start Nice holidays. It almost feels like its own enclosed medieval town as you stumble across quaint coffee houses, cute shops and inviting restaurants. Within the Old Town, you’ll also find the Baroque Cathedrale Saint-Reparate de Nice, Palais de Justice, Palais de Prefecture and a number of gorgeous little churches.
While wandering the Old Town, don’t miss out on the climb to Cascade du Chateau, a picturesque hilltop waterfall which also boasts stunning views across the city and Mediterranean Sea.
Nearby, Castle Hill offers more breath-taking views, while to see the city’s main sights and perhaps a few areas you hadn’t considered, head to Jardin Albert 1er – a beautiful park area – where you can take a ride on the tourist train which departs from the front of the park.
And no visit to Nice is complete without a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais – the city’s prominent street which separates its beaches from the city, offering stunning views both day and night.
