Where to go & What to see

If it’s culture and tradition you’re after, Morocco holidays have it in abundance and Fez is a great place to start. The medina, in the north of the country, is so stunning with its labyrinth-like streets, colours and architecture, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site in its own right. Famous for its leather tanneries and atmospheric souks, Fez simply oozes soul and is a great destination for couples to explore.

Equally enthralling is Marrakech, situated towards the centre of Morocco. For a blend of culture and great food, explore Djemaa el Fna after dark, when street entertainment takes the form of snake charmers, jugglers and musicians, and you can munch on mouth-watering grilled meats and wonderfully fragrant tagines.

And when the walking starts to take its toll, it’s a great excuse (as if you need one!) to treat yourself to a traditional hammam spa. With a full body scrub, hot and cold water treatments and a full body massage included, you’ll be ready to hit the mountains for some skiing or hiking!

Keen adventurers can strap on the skis in the resort of Oukaïmeden – a great place for family holidays in Morocco – or trek in the Atlas Mountains, where the highest peak, Jebel Toubkal, is popular among seasoned hikers. While you’re there, don’t miss out on the spectacular Ouzoud Waterfall – a truly breath-taking sight.

Alternatively, the eastern town of Merzouga is your passport to the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes, where you can have a go at sandboarding, or enjoy a camel safari or 4×4 tour.

For a complete contrast to the chaotic cities and adrenaline-pumping adventures, head north of Fez and the capital Rabat to Chefchaouen – an Instagrammer’s dream. The village’s iconic blue streets are truly a sight to behold, and with its quaint markets and the chance to steal a glimpse of the distant Rif Mountains, it’s the perfect spot to recharge the batteries.
